Achelpohl 64-69: It is with deep sadness that I report to you
John passed away Sunday June 27th in Rochester MN. from
heart complications. To those of us who knew John, he was
indeed a champion of the SAC Elite Guard Association. His contributions to
the history and heritage of our association will never be forgotten. He
spent countless hours researching information, finding new members, visiting
older members to record our history from their perspective, then putting it
all to paper for our archives. John will leave a large footprint in our
organization that will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held July 1st, at 11:00 AM in the First Assembly of God Church, Minot, North Dakota. Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 30th, from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot N.D. Memorials are preferred to: Teen Challenge, Youth for Christ, or the Salvation Army. Rest in Peace John! (BM) |

Reiter said that James died in his sleep of a heart attack on April 8,
2010, he was 62. He had previously had a heart attack 20 years ago. She

Wayne "Ted"
Groves 60-62: John Achelpohl learned
from Ted's widow, Donna, that Wayne "Ted" Groves, born Oct 15, 1939 died of
heart disease on Nov 13, 2009. Donna related that Ted's conversation was
always full of remembrances from the SAC Elite Guard. Ted and his twin
brother D'Wayne both served on the Guard during the same period. Donna is
forwarding Ted's obituary. She related that she would be happy to hear from
Ted's old friends at 1132 Hobbs Mill Dr, Manchester, MO 63021 Full obituary

Tech School and is headed to Offutt AFB where he will be assigned to the

REUNION and MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION: Please read, SIGN UP, and
visit the Store: (TJM) The SAC Elite Guard Association Reunion will be held at the Hope Hotel and Conference Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio 13-16 May 2010. Bob Griffith (SMSgt. Ret) has almost finalized the event planning and will be sending out registration information soon. This will be our first reunion away from SAC Headquarters and should be a fun event for all.
The requested SAC Elite Guard Association Clothing items and challenge coins have been well received. All who have purchased these items say that they are worth the price. Ordering information can be found in the BX section.
2010 members at our May Reunion will elect new Officers for the SAC Elite Guard Association. Make certain that you are eligible to vote.
Membership dues for 2010 are $25.00 per year. Your dues ensure things like postage, printing, mailings; certificate preparation, active Elite Guardsman recognition awards and web site maintenance are funded. With membership comes recognition for your time on the Guard as well as access to some of our found member information, association activity reports, newsletters, and other perks. Membership Dues paid entitle you access to the web site roster and those perks and future enhancements available only to dues paid SEGA members. There is also an opportunity for lifetime membership available following the chart for membership. Remember, 2010 dues are due and payable on December 31st 2009.
