ALBANY Alfred J. Smith, 63, died
suddenly, May 14, 2006 at his home. Born in Albany, he attended CBA
and was the son of the late Alfred J. and Evelyn (Stewart) Smith Sr.
Al was employed by Niagara Mohawk for 31 years, retiring in 1999 as
a line supervisor and was a member of the 25 year club. He was a
U.S. Air Force veteran and a communicant of Historic St. Mary's
Church. Al was a member of the American Legion Post 1040 and an
auxiliary member of VFW Post 3185, both in Delmar. He is survived by
his wife of 38 years, Linda S. (Carson) Smith; son, Lance Cpl.
Matthew A. Smith of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; granddaughter, Socorra
Smith of Casa Grande, Ariz.; nephew, George (Elana) Spence of Delmar
and niece, Linda (Dr. Matthew) Trainor of Worcester, Mass. He was
predeceased by his sister, Margaret Spence. Funeral services will be
held on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home,
490 Delaware Ave. thence to Historic St. Mary's Church on Capitol
Hill where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30
a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral
home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will take place in St. Agnes
Cemetery on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. Those who wish may send
memorial contributions to Historic St. Mary's Church, 10 Lodge St.,
Albany, NY 12207.
