Bobbie J. Church

burial: Fairfax Memorial Gardens, VA

General Power, SAC Commander in some of the darkest days of the Cold War, had an assigned motor pool driver. When circumstances warranted his removal as driver, Ted Baisden (59-61) pushed to have an armed guard as driver for the CINCSAC. Upon approval Bobbie Church became General Power driver. He drove for General Power until his retirement in 1964, then became General Nazzaro driver for one year.  The aide for General McConnell asked  Bobbie to come to Washington DC and drive for the Chief of Staff. Bobbie completed two tours with the CS, then when General Ryan replaced  General McConnell he drove for him until his retirement 1972. Bobbie retired as a Sr. MSgt. Upon retirement he spent 24 years in the Springfield VA area where he managed 6 food franchise facilities. In 1996 he and his wife Carolyn of  44 years moved to Lodi CA. Bobbie passed away March 17, 1998.
