SMSgt Forest William "Bill" Schumacher
06 June 2009
Marietta, Ohio

SMSgt Schumacher was laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery on Thursday, 11 June 2009 at Just a few minutes past noon.  There was a contingent of Airmen from Wright Patterson AFB Honor Guard to conduct military honors for him, They performed magnificently at folding the flag, firing party and pallbearers and the sounding of taps.  The American Legion post of Lowell, Ohio, provided the color guard.  The minister remarked that it was a most impressive funeral service and one he shall always remember as an example to follow.  One of the members of the Lowell American Legion color guard was a former security policeman who served his tour in Mi in the early 80's.  The Base Honor Guard gave me the honor of presenting the flag to his wife, Patty.  (probably one of the toughest presentations I ever made.)  I was honored that Patty ask my assistance in ensuring a proper military funeral was conducted and I think it was.  Thanks to the many members who sent emails or called Patty.
