Peter
J. Tierney, 61, of San Diego, CA, formerly of 773 Main St.,
Clinton, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 5, 2008, in
San Diego, after being stricken ill.
He leaves a sister, Mary T. Chrysler, and her husband John
C. Chrysler, of San Diego; and several cousins in the
McDonald and Mason families. He was predeceased by a
brother, Rev. Thomas M. Tierney, in 2006, and a sister,
Catherine A. Tierney, in 1995. |

Peter was born in Clinton, son of the late Thomas W. and
Mary A. (McDonald) Tierney. He was a graduate of Clinton
High School, Class of 1964, and received an Associate of
Arts degree from Mount Wachusett Community College.
Peter worked as a Police Officer for the Town of Clinton
from 1973 until his retirement in 1988. Shortly thereafter,
he moved to San Diego where he became known as "Boston
Pete," living on his boat and quickly set about to become a
boating and fishing enthusiast.
He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and a
charter member of the SAC (Strategic Air Command) Elite
Guard Association.
Peter was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, the
Clinton Council Knights of Columbus and the Clinton Lodge of
Elks and was a frequent visitor to Clinton, which he always
cherished as a state of mind, as much as a place. He enjoyed
cooking, golfing, horse racing and celebrating his Irish
heritage.
A funeral Mass for Peter will be held on Saturday, October
11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80
Union St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery,
Lancaster. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 10,
2008, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the McNally & Watson Funeral
Home, 304 Church St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
