FINAL GUARDMOUNT:  David W. Scott, Jr., January 14, 1936 - July 18, 2005, SAC Elite Guard 1962 - 1967, Sacramento, CA
It is with great despair that I need to inform you that my father passed away this weekend...DAVID W. SCOTT....yes, he was a part of the SAC Elite Guard, and so proud of that.  He was very involved  in making sure that as many people as possible were found and recognized for their involvement in the guard...but most of all, he was proud of when he served, and made it very well known to me.  I am his daughter, and I wanted to pass this update on to you because he cared about this website so much and what it represented.  If anyone knew my dad, feel free to email me at the email address which I've included above.  I am reeling in the shock of this loss, and any words on his life would mean a lot to me.
Respectfully Yours,
Elizabeth Anne Scott Stoudt

OMAHA GATHERING OF MINDS:  In 12 months, on July the 20th through the 23rd, 2006, the Omaha Holiday Inn Convention Center will be the site of the SAC Elite Guard Associations 50th Reunion Celebration.  As the appointed ringleader of this event I plan to hold meetings weakly to beg your assistance in organizing this reunion gala.  (Weekly Meetings are held 52 times a year. Meetings held weakly are accomplished as needed, but with much fanfare!)  It is my desire and intent to make it better than the previous reunions, and that will be quite a challenge.  It is to that end we will have a "Gathering of the Minds and Bodies" on Wednesday, July 20th, 2005 at the Millard American Legion Club.   We will begin the meeting and discussions at 7:30 p.m. I do need all the help I can get in organization, planning and implementation. There is a rough outline and time-line to discuss, but nothing except the meeting location and keynote speaker has been set in stone.  Let’s make the 2006 Reunion Celebration an event that will be used as a shining example of perfection by future Association Leaders and as the benchmark to be followed by subsequent Reunion Committees.  I can only do this with your help! If you would like to partake of a wonderful meal and beverage of your choice before the meeting please arrive early.  I will be there at approximately 5:30 p.m. Meals are served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday is "Surf and Turf Night".  A fish dinner is $ 6.00 and steak dinners are $6.00 and $9.00.  You may also order from the menu if the specials are not on your specific diet regimen. If you have never been to the Millard Legion hall the address and maps are listed below. I ask that you direct any and all questions to me by telephone, in Omaha (402)-895-0929, (402)-453-1941, Toll Free 1-800-950-5264 or email mailto:richrandell@cox.net?subject=from the Blotter    If you know of anyone not receiving this notice please share this and inform them of the meeting plans. Since our mission then was the cold war, nuclear arms race I think you will find this segment interesting, check the Videos Page.  (BM)Video's

18 3 Mar 05 INFORMATION:  We recently found Clarence Milster, one of the very first SAC Elite Guard members 1956-1958. You will find his pictures in gallery 7. In talking with Clarence we have uncovered interesting information about the early days. Clarence enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1945 and served in Korea during the early 50's and was a Purple Heart recipient. In 1956 he entered the Air Force where he was assigned and chosen for the SAC Elite Guard just being formed.

Clarence was kind enough to furnish some pictures of himself in the first uniform which was used on the cover of the Air Force Times in May 1957. You will note in looking at the picture  they wore the short waisted Eisenhower jacket with light blue shirt and dark tie, otherwise the uniform consisted of the beret, cross draw 38 and web belt, silver belt buckle and SAC crest and forgiere (sp). One additional notation they wore their ribbons as dictated by AF Reg 35-10. You will note in Clarence's picture that his jacket has three hash marks on the sleeve which denoted 9 years of service and three horizontal bars that indicated (3) six month overseas tours. On his right breast pocket is the Korean Presidential Unit citation.  The uniform pictured was the winter attire augmented by the khaki uniform in the summer months.

Clarence lives in Alaska where he has keen interest in the outdoors. At 77 he runs three miles a day five times a week and during the summer he gets up to 5 miles per day. In talking with Clarence he is challenging himself to use the computer so that he can enjoy our site and renew old friendships. Thanks Clarence, we are inspired!  (BM)

SAC ELITE GUARD ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP: Greetings former and current Elite Guard members, the executive committee last fall met and decided on our organization structure with supporting by-laws governing our action. In order for us to prosper and grow as an organization we need the support of our alumni in both physical and financial assistance. It was decided that our dues structure would be $25.00 per calendar year Jan-Dec each year.  What do I get for being a member? Simply stated your dues will be used to fund our membership activities along with projects that will be initiated at the Strategic (SAC) museum where we plan to have an exhibit that will be a continuing legacy of our role as the (SAC) (STRATCOM Elite Guard), additionally we will require operating monies in order to maintain our web presence and pay our administrative costs. We are also funding awards for the current Security Forces Elite Guard at Offutt to recognize outstanding airmen.  Reunion Registration will be offered to members at a lower rate than non-members.  Bottom line return to each and everyone who contributes to the association is the knowledge that they are insuring our legacy will continue through future years and our succeeding generation of families will know the significant contribution of the "Elite Guard"  Joining the SAC Elite Guard Association does not require you to complete the above form.  If you choose not to join the association at this time please fill out the above form so we can add you to the roll of located members.
