144	31 Dec 07	Happy New Year: Last day of 2007 today and as I look above I note this is our third full year of blotter entry's. When I review each year I note the building history of this fledgling association, the individuals we have located along the way , many who we have regained friendships along with making new ones and the sadness of losing our old friends. Our blotter also tracks the inroads we have made in leaving a permanent footprint of the association through its projects that pay tribute to the men and women who wore the SAC Elite Guard Blue Beret.. I was and still am proud to have been a member of the SAC Elite Guard. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2008 when we meet in Omaha to "Post the Guard" Happy New Year 2008. (BM)

132	7 Nov 07	Bill Schumacher Update: The following message was received from Bob Griffith: I was with Bill last Wed (10/31) when he had surgery and Thursday he was doing much better with speech and attitude. Fri morning he had slipped backwards a little. Sat they transferred him to the rehab unit at the Hospital and was going to start extensive therapy Monday morning and will last until wed 7 Nov. At that time all staff will meet and determine future treatment plan. No visitors or phone during this critical period except Patty for short periods. I will not be on line for a week after tonight, I am going to WVa and I will talk to Patty and provide any updates I can. I will landline if future developments dictate this week. We are in a wait-see mode. Cards would be appreciated. Bob Please keep Bill in your thoughts and prayers. (BM)

Jim and Dan have searched for Cornelius for three years now along with many other names of former SAC Elite Guardsmen. We extend our welcome to Cornelius who many of you knew by his nickname "Mac". 086	4 Jul 07	Colonel John L. Lind (Ret) Today we offer a final salute to a man, a gentleman who was one of the Commanding Officers of the SAC Elite Guard during the early 60's. Col Lind held a deep respect for the men of the 3902 Elite Guard, even after transferring to the Protocol section of SAC he remained a friend of the SAC Guardsmen. It was only fitting that Col Lind joined our organization and to date had attended each of our reunions and been a vital supporter of the associations formation and direction. We honor his memory and offer our sincere condolences to his wife Madeline and the Lind family. (BM)

046	2 Apr 07	Gregory Gardner 1947-2006 RIP: We recently learned from Laverne Gardner, Gregory's mother, that he had succumbed to a lifelong illness. He had a passionate interest in all branches of the military but was particularly fond of the SAC Elite Guard. When he was 14 years old he was invited to visit Offutt AFB where he was given a complete Elite Guard uniform and made an unofficial member of our unit. Later upon a trip to his hometown of Cleveland the drill team performed on the Mike Douglas show with Gregory and family in attendance. During this trip the SAC Elite Guard Drill team was featured in a parade with Gregory as grand marshal. Many of our members will remember Gregory, last year we bestowed a honorary SAC Elite Guard Association membership to him and invited him to attend our 50th celebration, but due to his declining health he was unable to do so. We offer a final salute to this valiant man who remained a true patriot and a friend of the SAC Elite Guard. (BM)

038	18 Mar 07	Harold F. Clary Sr., CWO4 (ret), Final Honors Sept 20, 2006: We have just learned that Chief Warrant Officer Clary passed away Sept 20, 2006 in Fresno Ca. Mr. Clary was a 27 year veteran of military service in both the Army and Air Force. He was instrumental in assisting with the formation of the Elite Guard working with Major Meyer 3902 Commander, during the formative years of the SAC Elite Guard . We offer a sincere final salute to another soldier, and Airman who has turned in his shield, for the last time, and one who was a member of "The Greatest Generation" of World War II Veterans. 028	6 Mar 07	Paul E. Arington Final Honors 10-25-06: Yesterday we learned that Paul passed away in Spokane WA, Oct 25th, 2006 after an extensive illness. John Achelpohl received correspondence from his daughter Shirley relating to his passing. Paul served on the Elite Guard in 1963 and I hope to have more information to relate later. If you would like to send a note to his daughter you may send a copy to me and I will see that it is forwarded to her. I am awaiting her permission to list her e-mail address. I know many members have expressed interest in meeting with their fellow guardsmen regionally. Should you decide to arrange one for your area SEGA members can access our on-line roster that will facilitate the location process. 023	19 Feb 07	Air Force Window Sticker: The following message was forwarded to us by Bob Griffith and should be of interest to our career personnel who frequently shop on A.F. installations; (BM) The days of Air Force window decals are expiring. Come March 15, the Air Force will stop requiring bases to issue decals. “It just makes sense,” said Brig. Gen. Mary Hertog, director of Air Force security forces. Hertog and other Air Force leaders concluded the decals no longer add to airmen’s safety and are a needless expense. Base commanders can set their own deadlines to phase out the decals, but they must end the practice either on March 15 or soon after, Hertog told Air Force Times. The Air Force change does not affect other services’ bases, Hertog said. Those bases will continue to issue decals. The general hopes the other services will adopt the plan if they conclude the Air Force change is a success. Already, two Air Force bases have stopped issuing window identification decals. Hill Air Force Base in Utah quit issuing the stickers in June, and Robins Air Force Base in Georgia stopped as of Feb. 5.
