075 02 Jul 09 To All SEGA Members, friends, and former Guardsmen/women.

Earlier this year, Mike McFadden asked to step aside as our webmaster, a position he has held for quite some time. With changes we needed to make to the site, I pleaded with him to stay on board just a little while longer (ok, it was six months).  Mike recently informed the membership and me of his resignation as our webmaster, effective immediately.  I accepted this resignation with deep regret.

I would like to publically thank Mike (specifically) and the other members of the web team for their outstanding work over the years.  Our website is AWESOME thanks to these fine volunteers!

For the time being Tom McDonald and Bill Marshall will keep the site running. However, I'm looking for a couple of volunteers…with website experience, to volunteer their time and talents to continue to keep our site going.  If you are interested, please contact me as soon as possible.

Bob Lilje, CPP
President, SAC Elite Guard Association    (TJM)

029 23 Mar 09

SEGA Leadership Change:  This past weekend, Kris Zhea, our association Secretary submitted his resignation to me, effective 5/1/09.  With regret, I have accepted it.

Kris is currently serving our Nation on active duty as the commander of a
USAF Security Forces Squadron in Texas.  In true "Elite Guard" fashion, he assessed his current situation.  He determined that the time demands of leadership in an active duty SF organization did not allow him to give the SEGA the level of commitment that he believed was necessary in this volunteer position.  I remind everyone that Kris remains a active member in our Association.  He indicated to me that he looks forward to seeing everyone at our reunion in May 2010.

IAW Article VI of the By-laws, with the consent of the other Executive
Committee members, I am authorized to appoint a replacement to serve until the next scheduled business meeting.  It is my intent to make such an appointment as soon as possible.

If you are current member of the SEGA and would like to be considered
for this position, please send me a short email (bob_lilje@yahoo.com
) expressing your desire.

Bob Lilje, CPP
President, SAC Elite Guard Association

002 04 Jan 09 Spc Tony J.Gonzales,  1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regimen, 2nd Brigade 1st Armored Division, Bauholder, Germany:   We were notified by his father Tony, a former member of the SAC Elite Guard, that his only son was killed by a IED on Dec 28 near Sadr City, Iraq, when an improvised device detonated near his vehicle.  To honor TJ's memory, I asked Tony if he would submit a picture of his son so that we can honor him and his family, we also asked him if he would tell us about his son.  His picture and Tony's words are posted in the Gallery section under the section recent photos.  Please join me in keeping this soldier in our thoughts and prayers, along with mother Marilynn and father Tony.
